Privacy policy
Find Qibla: Qibla Compass (Turkish name: Kıble Bul), Android app com.bittologic.kiblebul
Effective date: 27 October 2026. Applies to version 2.0.0 and later.
This policy explains which data the Find Qibla app uses, why, and what choices you have. "We" means the Find Qibla developer.
Summary
- No account, no sign-up, no ads. We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising.
- Your location is used on your device to calculate the Qibla direction. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.
- The app uses Google Firebase for anonymous usage statistics (you can turn them off), crash reports, notifications and the check for a new app version.
- With the optional phone permission the app reads only the mobile connection type (for example 4G), for diagnostics.
Location
The app asks for the location permission (approximate is enough) to calculate the Qibla direction and the distance to the Kaaba. The calculation is done on your device. The last location is saved in the app's storage on the device so that the direction appears at once next time and works offline. Your coordinates are never sent to us or to third parties.
Usage statistics (Firebase Analytics)
The app counts how it is used with Google Firebase Analytics: which screens are opened, whether the location permission was given, whether a location was found and the Qibla was reached, which settings were changed, and rough ranges (for example "100 to 500 m") for the location accuracy and the distance to the Kaaba. Firebase also records general device information such as the device model, Android version, app version, language and an app instance ID, and Google derives an approximate country or region from the IP address.
No coordinates, addresses, notification tokens or free text are sent. Firebase Analytics may also collect the device's advertising ID (the app declares the advertising ID permission). It is used only for usage statistics, never for ads: the app shows no ads, and all ad-related consent settings (ad storage, ad user data, ad personalization) are off. When usage statistics are turned off, the advertising ID is not collected either. You can reset or delete the advertising ID in the Android settings.
You can turn usage statistics off at any time in Settings → About → Share anonymous usage statistics. The app then stops sending statistics and deletes the Analytics data and app instance ID stored on the device.
Connection type (phone and Wi-Fi state)
On Android 10 and later the app asks once for the phone permission, right after the location permission. If you allow it, the app reads only the type of the mobile data connection (2G, 3G, 4G or 5G). With the Wi-Fi state permission it checks whether Wi-Fi is turned on. This is used only to know the connection type for diagnostics: it is attached to crash reports and, as a coarse value such as "wifi" or "cellular_4g", to the usage statistics. The app does not read your phone number, calls, IMEI or other device identifiers, the mobile operator, cell towers or Wi-Fi network names. If you deny the permission, the app works the same and does not ask again.
Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)
When the app crashes or hits an error, Firebase Crashlytics sends a report with the technical details of the error, the device model, Android version, app version, a Crashlytics installation ID and a few app states that help us find the cause (for example the compass sensor mode, whether the location was approximate or precise, the connection type, whether Wi-Fi is on and whether usage statistics are on). Crash reports contain no location or personal content. They are separate from the usage statistics switch, because we need them to fix errors.
Notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
If you allow notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging gives the app a registration token so that we can send notifications (for example about a new version) to all users of the app. The token stays with Firebase; the app does not send it to us or to anyone else. You can turn notifications off in the system settings.
Version check (Firebase Realtime Database)
At most once a day the app reads the current and the minimum app version from Firebase Realtime Database to tell you when an update is available. Nothing about you is written there.
Feedback by email
If you use "Send feedback", your email app opens a message to us. It contains the app version, the Android version and the device model, and whatever you write. We receive your email address with it, use the message only to answer you and to improve the app, and delete it when it is no longer needed.
Data stored on your device
Your settings (vibration, sound, keep screen on, theme) and the last location are stored in the app's storage on your device. If Android backup is turned on, the settings and the last location can be included in your device's backup in your Google account. Uninstalling the app deletes everything the app stored on the device.
Versions up to 1.1.9 included a network analytics SDK (Pinwise Network Analytics). Version 2.0.0 removes it, so it no longer collects or sends anything. The small files it had stored on the device (a random installation ID and the last notification token) are left in place, are not sent anywhere and are not part of the backup; uninstalling the app deletes them.
Google as service provider
Firebase is provided by Google, which processes this data on our behalf under its own terms: Google Privacy Policy and Privacy and Security in Firebase. Google keeps Analytics data for the retention period set in the Firebase project (at most 14 months) and crash reports for 90 days.
Permissions
- Location (approximate or precise): Qibla direction and distance, on the device only.
- Notifications (Android 13 and later): showing notifications.
- Internet and network state: Firebase services and the version check.
- Phone (Android 10 and later, optional): only the type of the mobile data connection, for diagnostics.
- Wi-Fi state: whether Wi-Fi is turned on, for diagnostics.
- Advertising ID: lets Firebase Analytics read the advertising ID for usage statistics, never for ads.
- Vibration: a short vibration when you face the Qibla (can be turned off in Settings).
Children
The app is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices and rights
You can turn off the location, notification and phone permissions in the system settings, turn off usage statistics in the app's Settings, and uninstall the app at any time. Because the app has no accounts, we cannot link the data in Firebase to you by name. If you have a question or a request about your data, write to us.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update this page and the date above. The in-app privacy page always matches the current version of the app.
